It is not difficult....about 5 hours on Highway 5 will take you to Mt Shasta City. There is a road from Mt Shasta city to the summit of Mt Shasta. If you want to climb the mountain there is a store that specializes in equipment, maps and advise or can even find you a guide. The store in on the main street of town...climbing is best done in the fall. There are lots of climbers in the summer It is not a diffiuclt climb if you have had some experience. Lots of good places to eat in the city. A side trip to McCloud from Mt Shasta City you will see the east side and if you continue to Weed you will see the north side. Spring time brings wild flowers...the ski lift is on the road to McCloud.
