IBM has made Granite models available under the Apache 2.0 license, which is a permissive open-source license. This means that businesses can download and use the models freely, modify them, and integrate them into their systems without worrying about restrictive licensing terms.

Big Blue's Granite LLMs are built for business and now they're available under the good old Apache 2.0 license.

The company is also unveiling a new generation of its watsonx Code Assistant for application development and modernization. All of these new capabilities are being bundled together in a multimodel platform for use by the company’s 160,000 consultants.
