The 18 parishes that are currently under burn ban restrictions are Allen, Acadia, Bossier, Caddo, Caldwell, De Soto, East Feliciana, Evangeline, Jefferson Davis, Morehouse, Natchitoches, St. Landry, Rapides, Union, Vernon, Webster, West Carroll and Winn Parish.

Louisiana is experiencing a continuing burn ban in response to ongoing dry conditions, low humidity, and high winds

( KLFY) — With the recent dry, windy weather conditions in Louisiana, several parishes have issued burn bans. As of 1 p.m. Wednesday, 18 parishes statewide have issued burn bans. The burn ban is to help local first responders by reducing the number of grass fire calls they must respond to due to the weather conditions.

Burn bans temporarily prohibit open burns in an area until fire risk decreases. Where open burning is allowed in local ordinances, the State Fire Marshal reminds residents that the only legal items you can burn in Louisiana are vegetation and ordinary yard waste items like leaves, tree branches, grass clippings, etc.

The Governor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP) announced an increased wildfire threat in Louisiana.

A burn ban has been issued for Rapides Parish, starting Wednesday and until further notice, because of dry conditions.

Due to breezy and dry conditions in the forecast on Wednesday, Oct. 16, a Red Flag Warning will be in effect until 7 p.m. this evening.
