Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis refuted allegations levelled by Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Friday, alleging irregularities in the Maharashtra state voters list by saying that such claims stem from the fear of imminent defeat facing the Congress in the Delhi assembly polls.

Rahul Gandhi had alleged that voter turnout in Maharashtra was above the total adult enrolment in the state. He also questioned the rise in voter numbers between two elections.

Addressing a press conference at the Constitution Club in Delhi alongside Maha Vikas Aghadi partners Sanjay Raut and Supriya Sule, Rahul Gandhi also questioned discrepancies in voter registration figures, claiming that the number of registered voters exceeded Maharashtra's total adult population.

Rahul Gandhi claims discrepancies in Maharashtra's voter registrations, alleging 39 lakh new voters were added in just five months. As the opposition demands answers from the Election Commission, questions arise about the integrity of the electoral process ahead of upcoming elections.

Just a day before the Delhi assembly election results are set to be announced, Leader of Opposition and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has alleged irregularities in voting in Maharashtra which went to polls in November last year.
