ALBANY, Ga. ( WALB /Gray News) - One person is dead and five others, including children, are injured after a shooting at a Georgia college during its homecoming weekend. The shooting happened Saturday at Albany State University’s East Campus in Albany, Georgia.

The Albany State University family is deeply saddened to learn of an incident that took place on campus at approximately 8:50 p.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2024. As always, the safety and security of our ASU students, faculty and staff are the number one priority of this institution.

One person was killed and at least five others wounded in a shooting at Albany State University in Georgia during the school’s homecoming Saturday night, police said. The deceased victim was identified as 19-year-old De-Marion Tayshawn Daniels, local NBC affiliate WALB reported. Daniels was from Atlanta, about 150 miles north of Albany.
