All-day rail disruption is expected in the north of England after a car crashed onto a railway track in Greater Manchester. The crash caused major damage to the track and cables, with repairs now under way. However, a number of services are expected to be disrupted for the entire day.

A driver luckily escaped after landing on a railway track in a dramatic collision. All trains have been stopped on the line which runs through Eccles this morning (February 7). It follows a collision in the early hours at the Regent Road roundabout, in Salford. A car was seen landing on its roof on the railway line beneath the roundabout.
