BC swept BU met recently in a home-and-home weekend series on Jan. 24 and 25. This will be the 23rd time that the Eagles and Terriers meet in the Beanpot final. Its the Terriers that own a 12-10 advantage, but the last time BU beat BC in the final was a 2-1 overtime win in 2007.

Both No. 1 BC and No. 8 BU took care of business on Monday, earning their first meeting in the Beanpot title game since 2016.

Boston University beat Harvard 7-1 and Boston College beat Northeastern 8-2 in the opening round of the Beanpot Monday night at TD Garden, setting up the first Eagles vs. Terriers final since 2016.

Boston College and Boston University have not met in the Beanpot Final since 2016. But on Monday night at the Garden, the two Commonwealth Avenue archrivals decided to do something about that. Both the Terriers and the Eagles earned berths in next Monday’s championship game with lopsided wins.

The red light bulbs that hang above the nets at TD Garden may need to be replaced after Monday’s Beanpot Tournament semifinal doubleheader, which featured No. 1 Boston College and No. 8 Boston University winning their respective games by a combined score of 15-3.
