EXCLUSIVE: An Indian remake of U.S. drama Monk is in production. The local version of the popular procedural is being made for Disney+ Hotstar. It marks the first adaptation of the series, about a detective with obsessive-compulsive disorder, in South Asia.

The award-winning comedy drama Monk is the latest international series to get the remake treatment in India on Disney+ Hotstar. Earlier, Indian versions of The Night Manager and The Good Wife have also been adapted for local audiences by the streamer.

This adaptation marks the first Asian version of the iconic detective series, which originally aired on the USA Network in the U.S. and centers on Adrian Monk, a detective with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) working with the San Francisco Police Department to solve unusual cases while grappling with his wife's unsolved murder.

Disney+ Hotstar has announced the Indian remake of the popular US drama series, Monk. This will be the first South Asian adaptation of the show, which revolves around a detective with obsessive-compulsive disorder named Adrian Monk (Tony Shalhoub).
