TCL announced the LINKPORT IK511 this week, the company’s first swing at a 5G RedCap device. If you didn’t know about 5G RedCap (otherwise known as 5G Reduced Capability), it’s designed for IoT devices that don’t need the full power of what 5G can deliver.

T-Mobile has paired with Chinese electronics company TCL to launch a 5G reduced capability (RedCap) device. The device, TCL Linkport IK511, is a 5G RedCap USB-C dongle that connects devices such as laptops and tablets to T-Mobile's 5G Standalone network.

TCL and T-Mobile have announced a new hotspot device which utilizes 5G RedCap technology to offer affordable 5G access.

It's available for $96 with 50% off for Go5G Next customers and pairs nicely with T-Mobile's new $5 device data service add-ons. There are no complex controls just a device that plugs in and uses a web interface for settings,
