Stellantis, like most automakers, has several proving grounds in different climates and geographies to develop and test vehicles ahead of selling them to consumers.

As part of its efforts to lower costs and preserve cash, Stellantis (NYSE:STLA) plans to sell its vehicle testing grounds in Arizona by the end of the year, according to sources cited by CNBC. The 4,000 acre facility has been in use since 2007 when Chrysler purchased the property from Ford (F) for $35M.

Stellantis warned in August that as many as 2,450 workers at the Warren Truck plant would be laid off, but the actual number is less than half as many.
