In the heartwarming story of the weekend, Jerrell, who played college football at D-III Findlay, was outstanding in Sunday’s dominant 34-14 win over the Falcons. Jerrell played 60 total offensive snaps. The Seahawks scored 34 points and starting quarterback Geno Smith was sacked on just one occasion.

The sixth-round draft pick from Findlay showed he not only belongs, but should remain Seattle’s right tackle amid injuries.

A 13th former Oiler, University of Findlay athletics Hall of Fame inductee Jerry Savoy, Class of 1966, signed as an end with the Los Angeles Rams. A knee injury ended his time in the NFL. He became a renowned husband, father, lawyer and civic leader in nearby Elyria, Ohio.

Making his first start and playing the first offensive snaps of his NFL career, rookie tackle Michael Jerrell played well while helping the Seahawks defeat the Falcons 34-14.

Originally a sixth round selection by the Seahawks in the 2024 NFL draft, Jerrell was the only Division II player chosen. The Findlay prospect had options to transfer to larger schools, but decided to stay. Largely seen as a project, Seattle felt he was worthy of a draft choice to mold into something.

The last five times the Seahawks and Falcons have played, the road team has won the game. Luckily the schedule formula had the Hawks in Atlanta this season.
