Kansas is one of 10 U.S. states where marijuana remains illegal and criminalized, including for people who rely on it to treat chronic pain and other medical conditions.

By November, Kansas may be surrounded by states with medical and recreational cannabis. A committee learned more about potential programs Wednesday.

Kansas police are once again saying no to drugs — including medical marijuana. On Tuesday, groups representing police chiefs, sheriffs and peace officers across the state continued to shoot down the idea of legalizing medical marijuana.
