Storm Ashley has caused travel disruption and flooding across the UK as high winds and rain battered parts of the country. Dozens of flights have been cancelled at Belfast City Airport and Dublin Airport due to 80mph winds, while several flights to Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen have also been called off.

A yellow rain warning is in place across Devon and Cornwall due to Storm Ashley. The Met Office warning, currently in place until midday, includes strong winds and heavy rain, with Dartmoor forecast to be among the worst affected areas It said bus and train services will likely be impacted,

A new set of flood warnings for the high tide overnight are in place across eight areas of Cumbria. Storm Ashley has arrived, bringing heavy rain, large waves and strong winds. The Environment Agency has issued eight flood warnings in Cumbria and is advising residents to ‘start acting'.

In a dire warning the Met Office said 'injuries and danger to life are likely' as the nation is lashed by the huge storm.
