Otmar's an incredibly seasoned and respected performer, but if your introduction to the sport was that godforsaken show, then the idea of drama and heroes & villains is baked into DNA. Otmar's done literally nothing wrong except try to push Lawrence Stroll's silly victim agenda in 2021.

Otmar only came in early last year and now Rossi is scrambling for a scapegoat just because Aston have made an unprecedented jump up the order and they now can't easily claim 4th. Granted, Alpine should probably be doing better than they are given they are a works team, but that's just because they chop and change so much.

Yeah, I'm sure gasly costs them more than piastri would have, and their long term outlooks are different. The "floor" of expected performance is likely higher with gasly, but also it's unlikely he suddenly becomes the best driver on the grid given that he's been in for a few years now, which makes me feel that piastri's "ceiling" COULD be higher
