Its first issue came out as an illustrated supplement to the Birzhevye Vedomosti (The Exchange Gazette), a daily liberal bourgeois political, economic, and literary newspaper in pre-revolutionary Russia. Today, the weekly’s circulation exceeds 80,000 copies.
